Die Entscheidung der Jury:
mundtot – ex-PICK of the MONTH:
www.myspace.com/mundtot
Orphee:
Ronny Moorings:
www.clanofxymox.com / www.myspace.com/clanofxymox
Kordan:
“Shoegaze electro , I like that description. What is it with that vocal tuning fx on Mirror, leave it out!. The vocals are good , keep it in the style. Indie style , promos suggest this non care image. Melancholic music, reminds me in a distant to the Jesus and Mary chain but different of course.
Like it !”

Sensory Gate:

The only way is up, baby!”

SININE:

Kai Lotze:
www.protain.de
Kordan:
“sehr schöne songs, schöne menschen, schöne atmo. etwas ladytron-like, aber trotzdem eigenständig.”
Markus Schmitz:
www.gewc.de / www.uselinks.de
SININE:
“Hoch interessante Musik, auch wenn da schon ein Labelvertrag ist und somit mein Undergroundherz sich einen anderen Pick of the MONTH gewünscht hätte, klar das beste Gesamtwerk.”
Leo von Leibnitz:
www.promofabrik.de
Sensory Gate:

AND THE WINNER IIIIIIIIIIIS…
KORDAN
(Oh My Rockness)

Orphee:
“Groove, Power and precisely arranged crossover songs with the edge. Orphee deserve the title Pick of the Month for their handmade music!”

Kordan:

DJ Darkstone:

Sensory Gate:
“Defintely Sensory Gate, that made it against Halo Effect. I think I have been influenced by the NCN5-Festival, where the band proved to be very strong in the live setting. Musically and in regards of the vocals the band was very convincing and absolutely marvellous.
The image needs to be improved, as jeans and t-shirt do not create the right mood, and the performance on stage needs to be better. Max has a very good voice and it is a pleasure to listen to him. He reminds me a bit of Boris May.“
Thomas Thyssen:
www.myspace.com/2xT / www.nightmarezone.de / www.gothic-magazine.de
Kordan:
“Kordan already sound very independent, without neglecting their roots and heroes. The production is very fat and the songs have been nicely arranged. The visual presentation can compete with established acts, and even though the bar has raised a lot already, the way out of Big Apple is clearly visible for the band. The only way is up, baby!”
Nicole Schoe alias Shedevil:
www.radiodeepinside.com
SININE:
“This time it has been very hard with all those brilliant bands, esp. as a electro and guitar lover, the decision has been very hard. For me, Sinine are the favourite band. For me, the decision is based on what band had caused the most positive emotions in me. Music needs to go under my skin and the vocals must fit. And with them, it comes together for 100%.”
Jens Hecker:
www.kultrafm.de
Rhombus:
“Honestly, the decision was very hard. Two bands have been very positive in my opinion. As only one can make it, finally I have decided for RHOMBUS as Pick of the Month. A band that still continues to pursue that kind of musical style against all contemporary trends and at the same time sounding fresh and new, deserves my deepest respect. And by the way, the song “Anywhere” is somewhat an ear-catcher…”
Jörn Sieveneck:
www.nerotunes.com / twitter.com/nerotunes
Kordan:
“Why? They sound fresh – even though Shoegaze has its roots in the 80s. And they have categorised themselves perfectly. The tracks as complex, vocals very well produced and are in good harmony with the music. Here and there some breaks and changes in tempo, all in all a sound that makes me longing for more. I would buy it. No, I have bought it yet – Fantasy Nation EP.”
Kai Lotze:
www.protain.de
Kordan:
“Very nice songs, nice people, nice atmosphere. A bit like Ladytron, but individual on their own.”
Markus Schmitz:
www.gewc.de / www.uselinks.de
SININE:
“Highly interesting music, despite the fact that they got a label deal already and my heart for the underground has wished to elect an different Pick of the Month, this is clearly the best.”
Leo von Leibnitz:
www.promofabrik.de
Sensory Gate:
“Sensory Gate is my favourite in a very hard contest. A very nice mixture of electronics (Senseless) and rock elements (New Dawn), that remind me a bit of mesh. But they still sound fresh and in my opionion they have a lot of potential for more!”

AND THE WINNER IIIIIIIIIIIS…
KORDAN
Sifting through traces of quantum universes, Kordan find the lush textures, pulsating beats, and somber melodies that they use to project dreams of bleak, dismal cities in a holographic future. But just below this mournful atmosphere there is also flicker of energy, like one of those cities is slowly flickering back on after a blackout. Luminescent synths build on scratchy guitars and the electricity of the city finally rushes back on.
In the fall of 2008, Cut Copy heard the band’s songs and chose Kordan as an opening act on their North American tour, taking them through Minneapolis, Chicago, Montreal, Toronto, and back to New York City. In the summer of 2009 Kordan released their demo recordings as the Fantasy Nation EP, garnering critical acclaim from Filter, Jezebel, and Oh My Rockness, among others. The debut release heralded Kordan’s aural world, tinged by futuristic visions and Japanese street culture.
The Longing, their first full-length album, expands the dystopian city they built on Fantasy Nation, making way for a full-fledged love story in a hazy metropolis circa the year 2036. Somewhere in a bleak, run-down Tokyo neighborhood, someone drifts through the crowds, holograms, and faded neon to reunite with a loved one he hasn’t seen in years. In this vast metropolis of millions, loneliness has become his prison.
The longing he has felt for her and the memories of what could have become have become his only reality.
“They have created a cerebral gesture, an atmospheric ride through Tokyo’s cityscape.”
(Jezebel Music)
“Fantasy Nation is one of the most memo- rable debut releases of the year, and listening to it shows why Cut Copy demanded Kordan to be their opening act last year after hearing the songs on this EP”
(Obscure Sounds)
“If you like any of that old shoe-gaze Britpop stuff, then Kordan has a stronger than fight- ing chance to become a part of your listening life.”
(Oh My Rockness)
Arthur (vocals/guitar), Liz (vocals/synth), and Gabo (bass) emerged from the vibrant rave and indie rock scenes in Puerto Rico during the early 2000‘s. After stints throughout the US, the trio converged again in Brooklyn to forge Kordan.
